FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know before booking. If your question isn't here, get in touch — we're always happy to help.

Booking & Availability

We commonly have bookings up to 3 years in advance — so the sooner the better. We recommend locking in your date as soon as you have your venue confirmed. Popular dates (especially Spring and Autumn in WA) fill very quickly. For elopements and smaller celebrations, 4–8 weeks is usually sufficient, but we always encourage reaching out early.

Start by submitting a booking enquiry via our bookings page. Once we've confirmed availability and you're happy to proceed, a deposit and signed agreement will secure your date. We'll then be in touch to start planning the details.

We understand that life happens. Please get in touch as soon as you know about any changes and we'll do our best to accommodate you. Date changes are subject to our availability and may be covered under our rescheduling policy, which we'll outline in your agreement.

Yes — a deposit is required to secure your date. The remaining balance is due prior to your event. Full payment details are outlined in your booking agreement.

Coverage & On the Day

No — we run continuously from your nominated start time to finish. This ensures a complete and natural record of your day. We'll work with you beforehand to recommend the best start and finish times to make the most of your coverage hours.

For bridal prep, we recommend 30–40 minutes with the groom and approximately 60 minutes with the bride — this allows time for candid moments, flat lays, and any "first looks." Ceremonies vary depending on the type of wedding. For family and bridal portraits, allow at least 1.5–2 hours, depending on location. We'll work through a detailed run sheet with you in advance to make sure everything flows smoothly.

Yes — this is important. We don't know your family and guests, so a list of names and combinations for group photos should be provided before the day. We also recommend having a Maid of Honour or family member on hand to help gather people. Starting with one large group shot and working down to immediate family on each side is the most efficient approach.

This depends on your chosen collection. Our Essential collections include one photographer or one videographer. Mid-to-upper tier collections include two photographers and/or two videographers, with a floater available in our Platinum collections. Depending on the complexity of your event, our creatives may cover different portions of the day simultaneously to maximise what we capture. We pre-plan all of this in advance so you don't have to manage it.

Drone

Drone is included in Premium, Luxury, and Platinum collections across our photography and videography services. It is not included in Essential collections. All drone work is subject to safety and legality — we follow CASA's rules and regulations, and airspace restrictions, weather, and location can all affect whether we're able to fly on the day.

We'll always assess conditions in advance and on the day. If drone isn't possible due to airspace restrictions, extreme weather, or other CASA-regulated factors, we'll let you know as early as possible. We don't offer refunds for drone specifically, but we'll always maximise coverage in every other way.

Deliverables & Delivery

All images are delivered in both web-resolution (optimised for sharing on social media) and full hi-res (suitable for large prints). Videos are delivered in high-definition digital format. Instacutreel formats are delivered in portrait orientation (1080×1920) specifically for Instagram and TikTok. Where USB delivery is included in your collection, files are provided on a quality USB drive.

Wedding and elopement galleries are typically delivered within 6–12 weeks of your event. Elopements may be faster (4–6 weeks). Celebration events (birthdays, engagements) are usually delivered within 1–3 weeks. We'll always give you an accurate timeframe at the time of booking, and we'll keep you updated if anything changes.

An Instacut (also called a Reel) is a short, punchy 60-second video edit delivered in portrait orientation (9:16 ratio) — specifically sized and edited for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook Stories. It's designed to be shared immediately and gives guests and family a quick visual highlight of your day.

A ceremony cut is a multi-angled video of your ceremony, recorded with professional audio so you can clearly hear back your vows and the celebrant's proceedings. An extended cut covers everything else — what happens before, between, and after the ceremony. A reception cut covers the formalities at your reception, including speeches, cake cutting, and first dance.

Yes. All wedding photography collections include a complimentary pre-wedding photography shoot. Higher-tier collections with photobooks or albums also come with a keepsake box containing your USB and a set of 6×4 thank-you prints. Video collections with Instacut inclusions have the reel portrait-formatted for social media specifically.

Travel

Yes — absolutely. We've captured love stories across all of Western Australia, from Monkey Mia and Karratha in the north to Albany, Denmark, and Cape Naturaliste in the south. We've also travelled internationally, including to Bali, Indonesia. Travel fees may apply depending on distance, accommodation requirements, and the duration of coverage. Please enquire and we'll provide a clear quote.

Weddings and events within the greater Perth metro area are generally included without a travel surcharge. For regional locations, we charge based on distance, fuel, and whether overnight accommodation is required. We'll always outline travel costs clearly in your quote before you commit to anything.

Elopements

Western Australia is full of incredible locations. Popular choices include Kings Park, Cottesloe Beach, the Swan Valley vineyards, Rottnest Island, and the South West regions like Margaret River and Cape Leeuwin. The Old Courthouse in Fremantle also offers all-inclusive elopement packages we work closely with. We're happy to help you scout the perfect location that matches your vision.

Yes. We work closely with Aisha Puchert from Lovefest by Aisha, who specialises in intimate ceremonies and is also a partner at the Old Courthouse in Fremantle. We can connect you with other wonderful celebrants as well — just ask.

Golden hour — roughly 1–2 hours before sunset — gives the most romantic, flattering light. That said, venue and ceremony logistics sometimes dictate timing. Get in touch as early as possible with your preferred location and we'll work together to make the most of whatever time you have.

While we can serve as witnesses in some circumstances, we generally prefer to focus fully on documenting your day. We can help connect you with professional witnesses or coordinate with friends and family for this role.

General

Absolutely — we love it. We have extensive experience working alongside coordinators, AV teams, florists, and venue staff. Just let us know who else is involved and we'll coordinate directly with them so that the day runs seamlessly.

We describe our approach as a blend of documentary and editorial. We're primarily candid and "fly-on-the-wall" — capturing real, unscripted moments as they happen. We'll step in to direct portraits and ensure you look your best, but we never force moments that aren't there. The result is a collection that feels authentic and timeless rather than posed and stiff.

Of course. In the lead-up to your day, we'll discuss your vision, any must-have shots, and your preferred aesthetic. We encourage couples to share inspiration images — whether from our own portfolio or from other photographers whose work resonates with you. The more we know, the better we can plan.

Yes — a complimentary pre-wedding photography shoot is included with all wedding photography collections. This is a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera, trial locations and outfits, and for us to understand how you move and interact as a couple. Most people find it invaluable for feeling relaxed and natural on the actual day.

We'd love to hear from you. You can reach us via the contact form on any of our service pages, or email us directly at jc@jcbridalevents.com. We typically respond within 24 hours.
